The West Midlands pandemic influenza e-learning series comprises five modules with a separate pre and post assessment plus an introduction about using this tool.

  1. Introduction
  2. Pre-Assessment
  3. Introduction to Pandemic Influenza
  4. Infection Control
  5. Clinical Assessment and Treatment
  6. Self Care
  7. Communication
  8. Post-Assessment

The five modules contain information which will help to prepare you for a potential influenza pandemic, but should also be useful for dealing with seasonal influenza and general infection control.

Please work through each module in turn. You can check your current knowledge with the pre-assessment and then finish with the post-assessment to check what you have just learnt.

This introduction module is designed to provide an overview of pandemic influenza and will explore the differences between pandemic flu, seasonal flu and avian (bird) flu.

It will also explore the potential impact of pandemic flu, what may be expected of you, and some of the planning that the Government, Local Authorities, NHS and the Emergency Services have undertaken in readiness for a potential pandemic.
